Beef Research
One could say that beef cattle were the first recipients of liquid feed based supplements, particularly with cattle on summer pasture. With cattle pasturing on locations remote from the home farm coupled with situations when pasture becomes over used, additional nutrition was needed and molasses / urea based feeds fit the bill for supplemental energy, protein and convenience.
Findlay Pate (University of Florida) provided a detailed summary of MOLASSES IN BEEF NUTRITION. The article was excerpted from Molasses in Animal Nutrition, Copyright 1983, National Feed Ingredients Association, West Des Moines, Iowa
